Health Information Exchange (HIE)

The anchor exhibitor has been working on data exchange for a long time. With the FHIR spec now widespread and becoming normative, good things are starting to happen across a variety of use cases – and the company plans to show how it's helping.

The roadmap for TEFCA, onboarding new QHINs, complying with 21st Century Cures provisions and many more information sharing imperatives will be discussed at HIMSS24.

Governments need to develop and fund enterprise architecture to solve major health issues like homelessness, according to Gabriel Seidman, director of policy at Ellison Institute of Technology, and his colleagues.  

With the European Health Data Space and its associated legislation progressing at pace, HIMSS is working to promote the topic of EU interoperability to a wider audience – starting with its Rome conference in May.

Together with Telstra Health, it will support the mandatory sharing of key health information across Australian care settings following FHIR standards.

Also, WA Country Health Service is looking for a technology provider for its Virtual Care service.

To promote exchanging public health data, the electronic information sharing network will waive annual fees for three years to the first five health information exchanges that agree to share data on the platform or via TEFCA.

The nonprofit group's Interoperable Secure Cloud Fax Consensus Body aims to add cross-platform identity assurance, standards-based metadata exchange and new federated security standards to facsimile exchange.

PA Navigate will refer patients to services in their communities that address their gaps in social determinants of health, including food, shelter and transportation.
