The broad movement of ‘connected devices’ represents a growing cybersecurity threat that puts patient data, medical information, and potentially patient well-being at risk.

Healthcare CISOs need to understand how every employee, application and IT technology impacts their risk profile, especially as they invest in digital transformation strategies. This will require a redefinition of the way they asses risk and require new skillsets and tools to help make the right decisions.

The risk is that with so many access points, there is the high potential for exfiltration of data, especially those consciously or unconsciously occurring because of vulnerabilities with privileged escalation— which is administrative-level access to all kinds of vital data about patients and the organization.
