The Washington Post has launched Health Reform Rx, an online panel made up of officials, industry leaders and newsmakers to address issues in healthcare.
The panel is designed to bring together a range of perspectives to tackle current problems in the U.S. healthcare system and discuss how they might impact citizens.
"Few aspects of American life touch people more directly than healthcare," said Marcus Brauchli, the Post's executive editor. "Yet few issues are as complex as this $2.3 trillion industry. To supplement our in-depth coverage, the Post is introducing a panel of experts to help readers make sense of these issues."
National Health Care Policy Reporter Ceci Connolly will moderate the online discussion, posing a question each week to CEOs, academics, practicing physicians, former policymakers and patients.
"We at the Washington Post have created Health Care Rx as an ongoing, online dialogue about the present health system and ideas for fixing it," said Connolly.
Participating panelists will include Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich; Peter Neupert, corporate vice president for Microsoft's health solutions group; and Premier CEO Richard Norling.
Readers are encouraged to join the debate, offer observations and suggest questions.
