The United Hospital System, which serves southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, is deploying an ambulatory and performance management solution across its acute care and outpatient settings.
UHS plans to implement a suite of Eclipsys' clinical applications, designed to help the Kenosha, Wis.-based system transition from disparate information systems to an integrated technology platform that will extend into the emergency department and outpatient settings.
UHS will implement Eclipsys' Sunrise Clinical Manager, Sunrise Pharmacy, Sunrise Critical Care, Sunrise Emergency Care, Knowledge-Based Medication Administration and Knowledge-Based Charting. Hospital officials say the solutions will help clinicians automate key healthcare processes, provide access to patient data across multiple departments and aid in creating a closed-loop integrated medication management environment.
The healthcare system will use Eclipsys' Sunrise Ambulatory Care solution for clinical documentation and care decisions in its physician clinics to promote tighter clinical integration with its physician group. UHS officials say that by using the same clinical database for both acute care and ambulatory settings, physicians across its campus will be positioned to improve collaboration with peers, gain unified views of the latest patient information regardless of care settings and eliminate the need for redundant charting.
UHS physician clinics will also adopt PeakPractice PM, to help reduce administrative costs and improve cash flow with tools that support appointment scheduling, registration, eligibility, billing and claims processing.
To better track and measure clinical performance and identify ways in which clinician actions affect patient outcomes and clinical costs, UHS will also deploy Sunrise Clinical Analytics.
"We are pleased United Hospital System has selected Eclipsys as its strategic partner to help implement its vision of integrated clinical workflows across its care environments," said Jay Deady, Eclipsys' executive vice president of client solutions. "We look forward to supporting UHS with our 'speed to value' implementation approach to accelerate their activation and support establishing an EHR system that is fully operational with broad utilization prior to October 2010, when federal economic stimulus package incentives for hospitals take effect."
