UNC Hospitals, a 724-bed academic medical center located in Chapel Hill, N.C., will be implementing a new automated Software-as-a-Service tool to manage the hospital's supply contracts and services agreements.
The hospital will install Contracts & Analysis, from Raleigh, N.C.-based MediClick, to automate contract updates from its group purchasing organization.
“C&A is both an analytical and operational tool,” said Chuck Mauro, director of materials management at UNC Hospitals. “It fully integrates into our materials management system, so we can identify savings opportunities quickly and audit them to make sure we get the results we expect."
Contract & Analysis is designed to reduce intervention by materials management staff and increase price accuracy. The hospital will also leverage C&A's bid analysis function to gather information on pricing offered by suppliers.
“We will immediately benefit from the improved efficiency and the ability to track and report more accurately on how effectively we use our contracts,” said Mauro. “MediClick will allow us to make more informed business decisions that cut costs for UNC Hospitals.”
