Medical centers create telehealth services partnership

Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte, Fla., and SSM St. Clare Health Center in St. Louis, have created a partnership with Telehealth Services.

The Raleigh, N.C.-based vendor will implement its TIGR on-demand patient education system at both hospitas in an effort to improve patient outcomes.

"As the industry prepares for government stimulus incentives and the implementation of electronic health record systems, optimizing the use of health IT has become a high priority for hospitals and physicians," said George Fleming, CEO of TeleHealth Services. "By maximizing the unified capabilities of our products, both Peace River and St. Clare can standardize care delivery, resulting in enhanced patient satisfaction, improved clinical outcomes and creating alignment across many of their technology systems."

According to officials, Peace River’s goal is to balance patient satisfaction by creating a home-like care experience. The hospital will install the TIGR patient education system that includes a Phillips 22-inch healthcare-grade LCD and fully assembled DSS headends. The hospital serves residents of Charlotte, Sarasota and Desoto counties in Florida.

Opened on March 30, the 154-bed SSM St. Clare Health Center will be implementing 287 Phillips commercial and hospital televisions throughout the facility, along with a 28-channel DSS digital headend and a four-channel TIGR system.

Telehealth Services’ TIGR education system provides patient access to the hospital’s educational library at the bedside. Both facilities look to leverage this service to help physicians better inform patients in regard to health information, whether it be their own condition or other health related topics.
