The Hunan Provincial Government of the People’s Republic of China has struck an agreement with Perot Systems to provide the healthcare organization of the province with IT consulting services.

Following Chinese healthcare reform and the Provincial Government, Perot systems will begin taking steps to create the Regional Health Information Platform of Hunan Province. This information platform will begin development in the capital city of Changsha.

"Providing excellent healthcare is critical issue throughout the world, and I want to recognize and praise the leaders of Hunan Province for the progressive stance they are taking,” said Ross Perot, junior chairman of Perot Systems. “The use of health information technology and solutions will enhance care and create a new standard for efficient delivery for the citizens of this province."

The province of Hunan will also be attempting to improve adoption of better information technology throughout its multiple hospitals and regional healthcare organizations.

In the agreement, the government of Hunan and Perot Systems will move to develop and implement regional health information exchanges, electronic medical records, and HIT platforms with the support of advanced infrastructure.

"Our ultimate mission in China is the transformation of healthcare to facilitate a healthy China by providing our expertise and commitment to help the Chinese people as well as their healthcare providers," said Ben Zhou, MD, director for Perot Systems Healthcare China and Asia Pacific.
