[Bolton, UK] Bolton NHS Foundation Trust will deploy the Allscripts Sunrise Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system after signing a £30m deal.
In an interview for BJ-HC earlier this year, Simon Irving, Acute Physician and one of the four CCIOs at the Bolton trust, revealed the trust had been making significant progress towards advancing levels of digital maturity across the organisation.
In a statement released today, Irving added: “At Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, we are dedicated to providing the best care for our patients and our community, while constantly striving to improve and by using our resources responsibly.
“Allscripts Sunrise EPR will support these goals by further enabling our staff to meet the healthcare needs of our patients as well as improve the safety and quality of our care.”
It is expected that the trust will go live with the first phase of the EPR system in the spring of 2019, starting the programme of work next week.
Allscripts to acquire McKesson’s Enterprise Information Solutions portfolio
Ken Bradshaw, Bolton NHS FT’s Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO), revealed the trust signed the contract with Allscripts this week, describing it as the ‘result of months of hard work behind the scenes’.
“The new technology will provide a seamless process, and make it so much easier for our clinicians to access a single, detailed and up-to-date view of a patient’s health record,” he added.
Phillipa Winter, the trust’s CIO, said the implementation of the Allscripts EPR will enable ‘frictionless care’ processes by offering clinicians a complete view of the patient record.
Allscripts has announced it will acquire McKesson’s Enterprise Information Solutions in an $185m deal (more than £140m), with the Sunrise system remaining the primary offering for larger hospitals and the McKesson Paragon technology as an integrated solution for smaller organisations.
