Analytics vendor Inovalon and athenahealth announced an interoperability agreement to integrate Inovalon’s healthcare data aggregation and analytics platform with the athenaNet network of 80,000 healthcare providers.
The companies said the partnership will automate the transfer of clinical data on behalf of athenahealth’s participating clients from athenahealth’s EHR service, athenaClinicals, to Inovalon clients.
This connectivity will give Inovalon’s customers a more accurate, complete, and timely view of patients, eliminate the need for costly and disruptive chart extractions, and foster greater opportunities for collaboration between providers and payers who are responsible for managing the health of populations,” the companies said.

athenahealth CEO Jonathan Bush said in a statement that the partnership will enable clients to share patient EHR data and foster collaboration between payers and providers to help them close gaps in care.
The athenahealth network contains over 81 million patient records and manages over 5 billion annual data transactions. Inovalon’s analytics leverage more than 11 billion medical events within its registry.
