Seattle-based KenSci has raised $8.5 million in its first round of funding. It plans to use the capital to further develop its data and machine learning platform and expand its operations.

Shareefa Albulmonem, head of eServices, Office of the CIO at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Saudi Arabia, is one of seven women being honored by HIMSS with a Most Influential Women in Health IT Award.

The companies will couple patient-specific analytics with the clinigraphic interface to give clinicians access to better decision-making data at the point of care.

The immediate past chair of the North America HIMSS Board of Directors has contributed to nursing and healthcare through leadership roles as an advanced practice nurse, chief nursing officer and CEO.

The deal is expected to provide customers with new opportunities to develop novel diagnostics and also to manage long-term genomic data storage.

The exhibit area will feature more than 60 companies demonstrating early tools with the potential to disrupt or change the healthcare industry. 

Building on its GE Health Cloud, the company is enabling care teams to store, view, analyze and share images in ways they could not before storage and compute power were available in the cloud.
