Anyone who has attended the HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition in recent years will be familiar with patient advocate Regina Holliday and her Walking Gallery. Holliday, an artist, founded the Walking Gallery and the Medical Advocacy Mural Project after her husband died of kidney disease in 2009. During his illness, Holliday struggled to get her husband access to his own medical records.
Today, Holliday's Walking Gallery is growing jacket by jacket as she paints healthcare stories on the backs of the owners' jackets.
Healthcare IT News celebrated Holliday with a H.I.T. Men and Women Award at its annual ceremony recognizing people who have shown stellar performance in the field of health information technology.
A May 25 USA Today article profiles Holliday and her artful efforts for patient rights.
