HIMSS announced that Robert Herjavec and Kevin O’Leary will take the stage for the closing keynote session at HIMSS17.
The two are widely known from their roles on ABC’s Shark Tank, a reality TV show that features entrepreneurs pitching investors. Both have been serial investors, nurturing innovation. Herjavec's roots are in Internet security while O’Leary was an early pioneer in digital learning technology.
Security and the challenges of fostering innovation will be two of the leading themes at the next HIMSS conference.

Herjavec has started and sold several IT companies and today serves as the CEO of Herjavec Group, which offers managed services, security and compliance consulting, identity and access management and remediation. He is also on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Task Force for Cybersecurity and, prior to that, took part in the White House Summit on Cybersecurity and served as a Cybersecurity Advisor for Canada’s government.
Kevin O’Leary’s life in software innovation dates back to the 1980s when he started SoftKey Software Products, which later became The Learning Company and was ultimately acquired by Mattel. In 2007 O’Leary became an advisory board member to private equity firm Genstar Capital which has extensive investments in healthcare technology (Genstar recently sold a stake in Netsmart Technologies to Allscripts Healthcare Solutions). One of the companies O'Leary co-founded, Storage Now, grew to become one of Canada’s largest storage service facilities before it was acquired by the In Storage REIT.
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning delivered the closing keynote last year at HIMSS16 in Las Vegas.
O’Leary and Herjavec are slated to speak on Feb. 23, 2017 at 1:15 pm in the Valencia Ballroom. HIMSS17 runs from Feb. 19-23, 2017 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
