CIGNA signs $35M agreement with CGI Group

CIGNA and its affiliated companies tapped CGI Group to deliver application development and maintenance services. Under the recent agreement, CGI will assume responsibility for maintaining service delivery for applications supporting claims, billing, banking, sales and underwriting, enrollment and eligibility, and reinsurance. The multi-year contract may be valued at up to $35 million per year, depending on the variable size and scope of services performed.

Community Health Plan integrates management

Community Health Plan deployed ZeOmega’s flagship care management software JIVA to integrate the plan’s utilization management, case management, disease management and population management programs. Community Health Plan uses the platform to serve more than 230,000 state and federal program members in Washington State. “We were looking for an integrated, patient-centric technology solution that would help us increase quality and value of services we deliver to our patients,” said Sandra Hewett, director of care management.

Minnesota Blues use IT to get members involved

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota has deployed a collaborative healthcare management platform called Alineo, developed by Wayne, Pa.-based MEDecision. The insurer implemented the technology to streamline care management efforts for about 1.4 million of its members. BCBSMN is primarily using Alineo to facilitate Whole Person Health Support, a recently launched initiative that identifies opportunities to improve members’ health status and reduce healthcare costs.

Aetna expands Web tools

Aetna is helping members make better informed decisions about their health with the addition of cost information for eight healthcare professions on its Web site. Aetna is adding cost information for audiologists, chiropractors, occupational therapists, optometrists, physical therapists, podiatrists, speech pathologists and speech therapists. The company is also making physician- and facility-specific cost and quality information available to more members by expanding service areas in states such as New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.
