A new Web site is designed to help educate physicians on the benefits of a digitally connected medical practice.
The site is designed and deployed by Welch Allyn, a Skaneateles Falls, N.Y.-based manufacturer of healthcare IT products and online solutions. Company officials say it will teach doctors how to make their practices more efficient in treating patients by implementing medical technology that promotes connectivity.
South Austin Medical Clinic in Austin, texas, has implemented an electronic health record and has seen increased connectivity with its patients.
“When I sign off on (a patient test) – whether it be spirometry or electrocardiogram – it immediately goes into the EHR and becomes available to my automated faxing or data interface,” said Eirc Weidmann. a physician at South Austin Medical. “So right away I can send a complete report to the consultant – the new ECG, an old ECG for comparison, the lab from last week. Done. It doesn’t sit on somebody’s desk for two days.”
South Austin Medical Center officials are looking to leverage more of the resources from the new Web site to help further improve care for their patients. The site 's resources include cases studies, brochures, ROI calculators and an e-newsletter that provides information on other connectivity tips.
