MedAssets founder John Bardis takes leadership role at HHS

Bardis, who served for 15 years as CEO of the revenue cycle and supply chain management technology developer, will be assistant secretary for administration.

John Bardis, founder and former CEO of revenue cycle management firm MedAssets, has been appointed Health and Human Services assistant secretary for administration.

Bardis founded MedAssets, a developer of revenue cycle and supply chain management technology, in 1999 and served 15 years as CEO, leading the company through its IPO in 2007.

MedAssets grew in total net revenue from $188.5 million in 2007 to $720.2 million in 2014 during his tenure, according to published reports. Bardis resigned as CEO on February 2015.

In November 2015, MedAssets was sold for $2.7 billion to Pamplona Capital, which sold one half of the company while merging the other with its Precyse subsidiary.
