Salt-Lake City based Intermountain Healthcare broke ground Jan. 25 on the Intermountain Kem Gardner Transformation Center.
Intermountain will build the 120,000-square-foot center on the Intermountain Medical Center campus in Murray, Utah.
The center will house institutes that train healthcare leaders working on transforming the way care is provided in the U.S. and around the world. The goal is to achieve the highest clinical quality at the lowest sustainable cost.
Construction of the four-story facility is slated for completion in 2018.

The Transformation Center will be home for several Intermountain programs. Including the Healthcare Leadership Institute, led by Charles Sorenson, MD, president emeritus of Intermountain and the Institute for Healthcare Delivery Research, led by Brent James, MD, Intermountain’s chief quality officer.
The center will all be home to several clinical programs and innovation initiatives. Intermountain has more than 1,500 active research studies in more than 20 clinical areas.
The Transformation Center is being funded in part by a $20 million donation to the Intermountain Foundation by Utah philanthropist Kem Gardner. Gardner has served on Intermountain boards for 34 years and served as chair of the Intermountain Board from 2007-2012. He currently chairs the Intermountain Foundation Board.
