HIMSS14 Exhibit Hall highlights

By Healthcare IT News , Staff

Before you walk into the HIMSS14 Exhibit Hall, here’s something you should know: If you visited each of the more than 1,200 exhibits every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day non-stop, it would take you 7.6 days to see everything.

The lesson? It’s important to prioritize.

“Pre-planning is the key,” said Elli Riley, HIMSS Director of Exhibits and Meeting Services. “On show floor it’s very easy to get distracted. An agenda makes it easier to maximize your time. You need to do your research thoroughly. Get online and choose which exhibitors are your must-sees and stick to your list.”

While many attendees will arrive at the 2014 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition will a list of vendors to visit and solutions to check out, the Exhibit Hall has many new and long-standing must-see features for any health IT professional.

As you develop your Exhibit Hall schedule, be sure to add these exhibits and pavilions to your calendar:

  • Connected Patient Learning Gallery. “This is a new booth with a different model,” Riley said. “It’s a self-guided, interactive model designed to engage providers and patents. There’s a game room feel to it, where people can come and play a trivia game, and engage in multiple interactive learning opportunities.”
  • Intelligent Hospital Pavilion. Visitors gain a practical overview of how diverse technologies are seamlessly integrated to enhance patient care, optimize workflow and manage healthcare resources. The exhibit also features a Patient-Centric Smart Home, demonstrating the use of RFID, RTLS, sensors, and wireless technologies with many clinical use cases along with smart home technology.
  • HIMSS Interoperability Showcase™. This year, HIMSS has significantly expanded the Interoperability Showcase™ by merging it with the Meaningful Use Experience. This combined, 60,000 square-foot area is designed to emphasize how collaborative technology is vital to the realization of connected health and patient empowerment.
  • Knowledge Centers. HIMSS14 Knowledge Centers offer real-world expertise, education, vendor products and services and resources all in one place. This year, the spotlight will be on Clinical & Business Analytics/ Intelligence and Mobile Health.
  • The Venture+ Forum. The forum is focused on fostering innovation in health IT by connecting entrepreneurs, investors and strategic partners, and promoting business-building collaborations.
  • First-Time HIMSS Exhibitors Area. Check out first-time HIMSS exhibitors and learn about their cutting-edge technologies and valuable services in one dedicated, central location on the exhibit floor (Hall E).
