In a speech Thursday focused on jobs and the economy Hillary Clinton promised a public health insurance option, paid family medical leave, affordable childcare, and to build on President Barack Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
And she claimed that Republican nominee Donald Trump’s tax plan would have a negative downstream impact on healthcare.
Trump shed some light on those plans for jobs and the economy earlier this week, also in the Detroit area, wherein he said that repealing Obamacare would save America 2 million jobs.

“He would give trillions of dollars to money managers,” Clinton said of Trump’s tax plan. “That would explode the national debt and eventually lead to massive cuts of priorities like healthcare, education and environmental protections.”
She also said that eliminating the Estate Tax, as Trump said he would do, might save the Trump family as much as $4 billion.
“Just think of what we could do with the $4 billion,” she continued. “We could provide a year’s worth of healthcare to nearly 3 million kids.”
Clinton said that she has a plan to provide “quality, affordable childcare to all Americans,” that involves limiting the cost to 10 percent of their income.

She also promised to create jobs across multiple industries support unions, small businesses and renewable energy, as well as raising taxes on wealthy individuals and corporations shipping jobs and operations overseas.
And Clinton continued her promise to build on President Barack Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act if elected.
“I will defend and improve the Affordable Care Act,” she vowed. “That includes giving Americans the choice of a public health insurance option that will help everyone afford coverage.”
