The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association has tapped AT&T Business Solutions for a multi-million-dollar group of projects focused on networking and wireless applications.
The association did not specify the exact value of the contracts.
Under the agreements, Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies across the country can use a complete portfolio of mobility, data, voice, hosting, Internet Protocol (IP), consulting and managed services.
AT&T Business Solutions' advanced networking technology supports BCBSA member companies by helping them expand capabilities, improve service and control costs as they increasingly rely on the Internet and private networks to exchange critical information among customers and providers.
Through the secure AT&T BusinessDirect(R) portal, BCBSA gains around-the-clock access to real-time information about the performance of its network services and a direct connection to electronic billing and ordering systems.
The company's advanced network services also provide real-time access to customer and provider information for call center representatives.
According to AT&T, the most recent agreement will provide increased flexibility and productivity for the 39 Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies, which collectively provide healthcare coverage for more than 102 million members.
