Urinary tract AI pilot project secures $4M HK gov't grant
A new project in Hong Kong is set to pilot an AI tool for screening blood in urine or haematuria in simple clinics.
Project lead Dr Jeremy Teoh Yuen-chun, assistant dean and associate professor from the Faculty of Medicine of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, received HK$31.5 million ($4 million) in grant funding from the government.
The project features an AI model for near real-time cystoscopic assessment and a urinary catheter with a built-in camera that facilitates the visualisation of the lower urinary tract.
"With such technology, we will be able to expedite the diagnostic pathway and enhance patient outcomes in a more efficient manner," Dr Yuen-chun said.
Parkway Radiology adopts CXR AI from Australia
Parkway Radiology, one of Singapore's largest radiology and imaging providers, has started offering an AI-driven chest X-ray service.
It has adopted the Australian company Annalise.ai's medical imaging AI solution, which reportedly can identify up to 124 chest X-ray findings.
The AI-powered service has been introduced in Parkway Radiology clinics in Bedok, Paragon, Jurong East, and Republic Plaza, and all four IHH Healthcare Singapore hospitals: Gleneagles Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, and Parkway East Hospital. The network reportedly performed more than 85,000 scans in 2024 alone.
