Digital healthcare company QuiO headed an array of emerging healthcare companies receiving accolades Monday at the StartUp Health Festival in San Francisco, as Accenture announced the results of its HealthTech Innovation Challenge.
Accenture named QuiO the challenge’s winner for its smart injection devices to patients taking injectable therapies and connected software that allows physicians to better support, monitor and engage these patients.
Runners-up included CaptureProof, which provides a smart medical camera for mitigating HIPPA privacy risk while putting photos, videos, chat and sensor data into the hands of patients and their physicians.
Also recognized as a Top Innovator was UE Life Sciences for its wireless cancer detection tools, including iBreastExam, which facilitates early breast cancer screening and detection in the developing world.
The Accenture HealthTech Innovation Challenge brings together leading-edge startups with prominent health and life sciences organizations to tackle healthcare challenges, including access, affordability and transparency. More than 500 startups demonstrated how their technology and business improve the way people access and manage healthcare. The award was announced at the StartUp Health Festival during the 35th Annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference.
New York, N.Y.-based QuiO has developed a real-time, wireless injection device and cloud platform for connected drug delivery devices. The company’s Smartinjector device platform is a fully-connected drug deliver solution, enabling remote monitoring of dosing events and injection performance without syncing or smartphone required. It’s Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)-compliant software includes secure web dashboards for monitoring and supporting patient populations remotely.
“The volume and quality of submissions are proof of the level of invention in healthcare, which can play a major role in improving the way people around the world can manage their health and associated costs,” said Anne O’Riordan, senior managing director of Accenture Life Sciences.
