IDC Health Insights on Wednesday announced the winners of its first HealthTech Rankings, with Optum and IBM taking top honors in separate categories.
The awards designate the leading global IT suppliers to both payers and healthcare providers. IDC based its ranking on new benchmarks divided winners into two divisions.
The first, IDC’s Top 25, recognizes the largest companies with more than one-third of revenue coming from payer or provider institutions while The Enterprise Top 25 comprises those vendors that generate less than one-third of revenue from the healthcare sector and the rest from other markets.
IDC’s top 5 Vendors of The Top 25: Optum, Cerner, McKesson, GE Healthcare and Epic Systems.
The top 5 Vendors in that second category, the Enterprise Top 25, are: IBM, Siemens, Hewlett-Packard, Royal Philips and Microsoft.
Beginning this year, IDC Health Insights is tracking the growth of health IT companies to create what Research Vice President Lynne Dunbrack described in a statement as an industry benchmark for ranking them by revenue.
